Radio DARC via MOS (9790kHz)

German Amateur Radio Club conducted the special transmission of program called Radio DARC (DARC stands for Deutscher Amateur Radio Club) during the 24th IARU Region 1 General Conference held in Landshut, Germany in last September.  I heard Radio DARC on 9790kHz transmitted from Moosbrunn of Austria, and submitted reception report by E-mail.  Today, I received p/d QSL letter from Rainer Englert, DF2NU.  Also blank QSL's of Radio DARC and DF2NU were received.

From September to December, Radio Free Asia issues the anniversary QSL "sheet".  To complete the sheet, I have sent 6 different reports - some people gets the sheet after sending 4 different reports at the same time.

AWR Moosbrunn (15440kHz)

Last June, I heard Urdu program of Adventist World Radio (AWR) on 15440kHz at 1400-1430UTC that was relayed from Moosbrunn, Austria.  I mailed the reception report to AWR office in UK, and received QSL.

Adventist World Radio - Tamsui (15445kHz)

Vietnamese service of Adventist World Radio (AWR) at 0100-0200UTC is relayed from Tamsui, Taiwan on 15445kHz every Saturday.  Usually AWR program starts with English announcement "This is Adventist World Radio, Voice of Hope", but 15445kHz transmission starts without English announcement.  I submitted reception report to AWR office in Thailand, and received f/d QSL.  Transmitter site was given as "TAI" - I do not know what "TAI" stands for.

Radio Mi Amigo (11845kHz)

Radio Mi Amigo International conducted high-powered special transmission on 11845kHz at 1700-1900UTC on September 24.  I checked the recorded audio clip of 11845kHz at 1700-1900UTC, and found that, although signal was almost sub-threshold level, vocal selections and announcement by male DJ could be noted occasionally.  One of the vocal selection as Masterpiece by Temptations.  I have e-mailed the audio file to ask whether program I heard was from Radio Mi Amigo.  Today I received QSL card (time was mentioned as 17-19UTC).  Although the contact address of the station was in Spain, QSL was mailed from Germany. I do not know the transmitter site of 11845kHz, but some hobby references indicated that they broadcast from Armenia.  They have a plan to have high-powered transmission at the end of October.

In Taichung, I heard 城市廣播電台 (Cheng Shih BS) on 92.9MHz.  This station belongs to Goldfm network - other stations are Taipei (台北健康電台) on 90.1MHz, Miaoli (大苗栗廣播電台) on 98.3 and Tainan (台南知音廣播電台) on 97.1MHz.

During my stay in Tainan, I heard radio program of 古都電台 (Ku Tu BS) on 102.5MHz.  I submitted reception report, and received f/d PFC with station data sheet and schedule.

VORW via Kostinbrod, BUL (9400kHz)

Here in Japan, program from The Voice of the Report of the Week (VORW) can be heard at 1600-1700UTC on Sundays on 9400kHz (Kostinbrod, Bulgaria) with poor reception condition.  I heard their program and submitted reception report by e-mail.  A few days ago, I received f/d e-QSL.

Indian DX Report via TRM (11995kHz)

"Wavescan" is one of nice DX programs - basically broadcast every Sunday from Adventist World Radio.  Some DX clubs, such as JSWC, have almost 5 minutes program within Wavescan.  Indian DX Report, prepared and presented by Mr. Prithwiraj Purkayastha, can be heard every 5th Sunday.  In 2014, I heard their program on 11995kHz relayed from Trincomalee, and received e-QSL today - it takes only 3+ years.

"Golos And", Russian program of HCJB, is produced at radio studio "Oktrovenie" in Voronezh of Russia, and broadcast on 13800kHz at 1530-1600UTC (Russian) and 1600-1630 UTC (Chechen) on Saturdays on 13800kHz (via Moosbrunn, AUT).  I submitted my reception report to Radio Studio "Oktrovenie" (P.O. Box585, Voronezh, 394036 Russia) and received paper QSL featuring view of Voronezh.

Radio Thailand can be heard with good reception condition on 9390kHz around 1300UTC.  I heard their Thai program at 1330-1400UTC on 9390kHz, and e-mailed my reception report with audio clip.  Today, I received their QSL - unfortunately, they mentioned frequency as 15590kHz.

I heard Dari program of All India Radio (AIR) transmitted from Panaji, and emailed the reception report to AIR with audio clip.  Today, I received f/d QSL featuring Parliament House in New Delhi - it takes only 2 weeks.  Previously, AIR is know to be one of good, but slow verifier (sometimes, it took about one year to get QSL). good, but slow

Isle of Music via Kostinbrod, BUL (9400kHz)

In addition to The Mighty KBC, program "Isle of Music" is also relayed from Kostinbrod, Bulgaria on 9400kHz at 1500-1600UTC on Sundays.  "Isle of Music" is program of Cuban music, and now can be heard with poor to fair condition in every Sunday midnight here in Japan.

The Mighty KBC via Kostinbrod, BUL (9400kHz)

From April, the Mighty KBC started the transmission on 9400kHz relayed from Kostinbrod, Bulgaria, at 1500-1600UTC on Saturdays.  Here in Osaka, their program can be heard poor to fair condition.  They verified my reception with E-QSL for e-mailed report.  If you would like to have original printed QSL, they request 2 US$.

AWR via Dushanbe (15430kHz)

Adventist World Radio (AWR) now uses two new transmitter sites in A17 season, i.e. Dushanbe and Tashkent.  Dushanbe relay is used for Dzongkha (language in Bhutan) service on 15430kHz at 1300-1330UTC.  I submitted reception report to AWR office in Thailand, and received f/d cd.

Radio Free Asia (RFA) issued special QSL celebrating 30th annual winter SWL Fest for reception of RFA at March 3-9.  I heard Laotian service on 13685kHz that was radiated from Saipan on March 5, and special QSL card arrived today.

R Nikkei Nemuro (3925kHz)

Radio Nikkei on 3925kHz is transmitted from both Nagara, Chiba and Nemuro.  From April 12 to May 2, the transmitter of 3925kHz at Nagara has been off the air due to transmitter maintenance.  Thus, R Nikkei on 3925kHz is now only transmitted from Nemuro.  I heard R Nikkei on 3925kHz on April 12, and submitted the reception report.  Today I received their QSL - unfortunately they did not mention the transmitter site.

VORW via Tashkent (12085kHz)

The Voice of the Report of the Week (VORW) conducted the test transmission towards East Asia on 12085kHz from Tashkent at 1200-1300UTC on March 9.  The reception condition was not so good at the beginning of transmission, but improved around the end of the transmission.  I submitted the reception report with audio clip, and received f/d e-QSL.  They also conducted the test transmission on 5850kHz from WRMI at 1000-1100UTC on March 2, 9 and 16 - barely audible here in my location.

AIR Bengaluru (9865kHz)

One of easy-to-hear subcontinental station is All India Radio on 9865kHz. This channel carrys "Vividh Bharati" program and can be heard with fair to good condition around 1400.  I e-mailed the reception report, and received f/d QSL card showing building of AIR Kolkata.

Radio Menschen und Geschichten via Armenia (17760kHz)

Last May, Shortwave service conducted the special transmission with program of  "Radio Menschen und Geschichten" on 17760kHz from Armenia. I could hear their program with weak signal.  I submitted the reception report by e-mail with audio clip and postal mail.  Toady, I received 2 f/d QSL.

Radio 1 Hits - Bergen (97.1MHz)

In June 2012, I visited Bergen, Norway, and heard local program from several FM stations.  Yesterday, I received f/d PFC  and note saying "Very sorry. Your letter has fallen behind some books. It comes sight as we now are cleaning and moving," from Radio 1 Hits Bergen.  It takes nearly 5 years to receive reply.

DSWCI via Trincomalee (11730kHz)


Danish Shortwave Club International (DSWCI) has founded 60 years ago, but unfortunately they end their history last year.  On December 4, 2016, special broadcast for DSWCI was on the air on 11730kHz from Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.  A few days ago, printed QSL card arrived here. v/s R. Kipps, RMRC.

I will leave to Cairo via Dubai tonight.  I will visit Damanhour, south of Alexandria, as well as Cairo.  I will come back Japan on Feb 15.  As usual, I bring portable radio (PL310 ET) with me, but I do not know whether I have enough time to listen to radio.

Mr. Kazuo Ozaki, director of Japanese service of HCJB, visits Japan every year. Last year, I attended the meeting in Kyoto, and he interviewed with listeners, including me.  HCJB issued QSL card featuring photographs of meetings.  Left photograph was taken from Kyoto meeting - could you recognize me?

This year, Radio Free Asia (RFA) issues "2017 - Year of the Rooster" QSL card using nice paining by Korean painter, Jang Seung-eop, better known as Owan.  I received this nice QSL for report of RFA Korean service on 5885kHz that was radiated from Tinian, North Mariana..
